New pickup day (custom blue x2n and super2)

I just tried it out - sounds nice. The “x2n” is less muddy than the TZ and the “super2” is not as bubbly as the “air norton.” I love the bubblyness of the air norton (which is one of my favorite neck humbuckers) but this is a welcome change, for something dif.

I was scared the “super2” would be too trebly but it is not. It has an almost glassy quality. Sounds strong, though, not brittle. volumewise, it is as powerful as a bridge pup but is not harshly bright (i was scared when i saw the increased treble numbers on paper compared to the “super distortion.”) I was afraid it could be ice-picky. It is not though. It’s powerful sounding, but not harsh at all.

Imo the x2n is tighter (less loose) sounding than the TZ.

Took 4 weeks to get the blue super2. An additional week for the installation of both pups. This has has been a long time coming!! So glad it’s finally done!

Thank you!! I originally intended to save these pups til after i got an rg550 in march. I have 2 rgews (one dark, one blonde) though, both which had the same pups, so i jumped the gun and put them in one of those. I was NOT thinking about how those would look cosmetically in the rgew when i puchased them and i thought the stock cream ones looked stunning. I think it turned out looking nice, though. A bit of luck, to be honest. Love the sound and look.

Ty! I love it too. There is something hard to explain about these 2 pups!

I got rid of my X2N long ago and have a regular Super Distortion paired up with a Super 2 now which also works great. I'll eventually pick up another X2N.

I've got a black/blue Norton in my Hamer at the moment and really love that one, too.

I have an air norton 7 paired with a regular super dist 7 in my s series. It is my fav recording guitar. Haven’t tried out either of my rgews in a recording context, though. I had previously tested it on my roland but tried it on my dsl40c for a little bit last night. Soundsreally alive. I like how the x2n is not very muddy compared to my original
super dist (bridge) and tz (also in bridge)

To me, the original super dist and super2 pups have an almost “hi-fi”ish quality about them. They really cut through and sound alive.
