New pickup set. Dead neck pickup?

This question actually appeared on another thread I opened, but I think it is interesting enough to have it's own thread.
Last week I received a brand new set of Phat Cats. The package looked alright and the pickups too. When I installed them and tried them (without strings) the bridge pup worked just fine but I got a really faint response from the neck pickup, in fact I had to turn the amp up to 10 to actually hear something. I measured them with a multimeter and the bridge gave me 8.75 KOhms (as it's supposed) but the neck only measured 0.05 KOhms.
Is this a common thing? What can be the cause?
Thanks. IMG_20190708_210912.jpg

if its brand new from an authorized dealer, id have them replace it. not worth the hassle to fix it unless you really know what you are doing

Re: New pickup set. Dead neck pickup?

It happens.

I recently bought a DiMarzio D Activator that had not been modded or messed with, and only one coil worked. Decided to try to fix it, and found a broken lead from one of the coils. Connected it, good as new.

I agree with Jeremy, that if you bought it new, it should go back for a replacement.

Never had that happen on a new set of PU's, it's pretty rare. But they should be under warranty. Don't try to fix yourself.
