New pups for Godin Solidac

Hi, I have a Godin Solidac, H-S-H with LR baggs bridge piezo. I love the piezo, but I'm not that happy about the other pickups. Any suggestions for a good H-S-H combination?

I have a vintage reissue strat with duncan vintage and antiquy pups, and I love it. But I'm not sure if I want another so vintage-sounding guitar..

Wich pickups should I check out? I'm playing a lot of jazz - I don't feel the strat works so good with that, so a nice jazz sound would be lovely. Maybe a modern jazz tone, slightly distorted would be the thing for this guitar.

Any constructive suggestions are welcome.

Hey, Hallvard. My first thought is to suggest a Jazz neck, a JB bridge, and an Alnico II Pro stagmag in the middle. That should give you a bunch of versatility out of one guitar.

thanks alot. Sounds good, although I have heard people say that the jazz pickup isn't that good for jazz, or that good at all.. anyone tried it? What do you think? If it sounds good, it looks like a great combination.

I would recommend two AIIPros for jazz or slightly distorted leads. They are very sweet and smooth. I think the JB is a little hot to do that kind of thing well.

with two AII pros, what would you then use in the middle? And what about the seth lovers? I've heard great things about them..

The "modern jazz tone" and "slightly distorted" led me to the JB. Whatever you hear in the way of opinions, you definitely need to hear the p'ups for yourself. Use the Tone Wizard as a good place to start.

I find the JB too nasal and harsh for that kind of smooth tone, but that's just me. And sorry, I'm not a single coil guy at all so I wouldn't know what to put with two A2Pros.

Another thing to consider, is that when using the piezo togheter with the other pups, I can get a very clean, sparkling treble sound - maybe the pups don't have to be that bright. Should I then rather pick Seth lover in the neck, and a JB or CC bridge?

If the guitar has a naturally very midrangey sound, you might not wanna go with the CC. It can be very blunt and dead sounding in a guitar that is mostly mids. However, if the guitar is a lot of top and bottom, and not too much midrange, it would be a perfect. Likewise, if the guitar is all midrange and you want accentuate the top and bottom, grab a C-5. The seth in the neck sounds like a good choice and would match well with either pickup.
