NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

Hello everyone this is my first post and I don't know if this has been asked here yet so I figured I would ask again if it has. I am interested in buying the new Blackout Pre-amp volume pot mod. I have 3 guitars of 10 to start out with I would like to try this in. My 07 Fender Lonestar Strat with Seymour Duncan SHPG-1 Pearly Gates Plus humbucker in the bridge and 2 SD Classic stack single coils. I also have my Ibanez RGR 320ex that I installed an SH6 and SH10 in (guitar rocks as is!) and my newest Charvel San Dimas style 1-2-h. I have asked Seymour Duncan about these mods but have gotten no response. I am asking if they are on the market yet and if so what is the MSRP on them.

Thanks

Ian

Wow I figured this would have had at least one hit by now! Is there something SD isn't telling anyone about these other then the price? I can't find a price for them on line anywhere!

Re: NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

I'm sure one of the SD folks will post, but I dont think these are available yet. There are a couple of youtube clips that go thru them, but I checked a few sites today as well and theres no sign, nor have I seen an ETA.

Re: NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

They've been shipping for quite awhile now, US retail is $79, on the street you can probably find them for around $50 or so.

Re: NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

There's an ebay auction for new BMPs for $55. I've bought two from them already and they're great!

Re: NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

Northlander30 - IIRC The BOMP has the ability to boost two seperate humbucker pickups, but it won't do jack for a third pickup in a guitar without some very fancy switching or an additional BOMP. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you didn't already understand that about it.

I still cant find the coil pack anywhere, but I just pulled the trigger on the pre-amp for $65 shipped :)

Re: NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

I got mine forr $54 + shipping off ebay ...it arrived yesterday, but I have'nt figured out how to install it yet (I made an attempt... but It sounds dry, tinny, weak & horrible with my Invaders...I'm sure somethings badly wrong).

I really need a schematic for 2 humbuckers (n & b) and a separate active single coil (middle) with a push/pull to split the 'buckers and a 5 way switch. If anyone from SD or the forum could help me with that I'd be very much obliged... :)

Re: NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

Thanks guys, the MSRP is around what I figured it would be. Is there a wiring diagram included with the pre-amp? Has Seymour Duncan added a wiring Schematic in their wiring diagrams here on the site? Every guitar I plan to put one of these in are H-H pup configuration. I was toying with the idea of putting one in my Fender Lonestar but I want that Seymour Duncan SHPG1 Pearly Gates to stay true. It has great tone and compliments the classic stack singles very nicely.

I am also planning to coil split the Charvel and Ibanez as I have done coil splitting on both of my Fender Strat's and my 1986 BC Rich Assassin. Both my Strat's have a humbucker in the bridge. I have never been a single coil in the bridge type of player. But coil tapping at least gives me options for tone. I love the sound of a single coil in the neck though for soloing.

Re: NEW SD Blackout Preamp mods

Wire the 2 singles in together like you would a single 4 conductor humbucker, they'd operate like a humbucker together. Then split to the neck pickup. I almost want to get an HSS just to try this.
