New SD Pedal Announced! - Catalina Chorus

They just put the demo up online, I just saw it announced fully on their Facebook page too. Analog chorus isn't really my thing but considering how good my Vise Grip is and how much I've liked the 805 and Vapour Trail I tried, I'd be willing to give this a look, especially with the envelope functions.

Thanks for posting, Timmy. We're really excited about Catalina. The chorus effects sound amazing and the Dynamic Expression feature is a really innovative way to manage the level of effect with playing dynamics. We can't wait to get it out there for players to experience.

SD should do a giveaway of all their current pedals, as they would be make a great pedalboard. :)

How about a Pro version with Drive, Fast/Brake/Slow switching, Ramp Rate, Horn/Drum balance and dual clocking for true stereo?

I think I tried this one at the LA Amp show a few months back. I remember that it sounded great!! Very lush without any of those sour overtones you sometimes get from a chorus effect that isn't tuned well.

For those going to NAMM, we will have them at our booth, as well as a few other surprises. I heard early prototypes of the Catalina Chorus, and it is pretty remarkable.

Re: New SD Pedal Announced! - Catalina Chorus

Will be getting the Catalina chorus this month as well as the Vapor Trails delay. They will keep my 805 pedal company. :cool2:
Will report back how the chorus compares to my digital chorus on my Voxpedal that has an analog chorus setting

Re: New SD Pedal Announced! - Catalina Chorus

Just received my Catalina Chorus pedal today. I put in a a chain with my two digital chorus effects I have. One is an emulation of Classic Chorus, the other BI chorus which has that fuller sound.

My digital chorus effects sound very good. Never had a complaint about them. When I compared them to the Catalina, the SD chorus had a fuller sound, a little more up front sound. Going back to the digital chorus it sounded thinner and a little laid back. They have great presets in the manual for different chorus sounds.

Not to my surprise, this is a wondeful chorus pedal that has a lush full sound. The tone knob is an extra bonus as it can help reduce too much brightness or add more in. Dynamic control is another bonus that makes me smile. I then went stereo between my Fender Twin RI and Mesa Boogie amp. It clearerly sounded better than even the Roland Chorus amp. By reducing the depth and delay you can control the sound so it's more gentle and not as thick. This is not a one trick effect pedal. Can't imagine being happier with another chorus pedal. The Boss Waza Chorus looks great too but the features including a mix knob make this my favorite chorus pedal. With my setup it did not reduce the low end either.
