New Short Mix (5150 content) - Trivium

Yo guys,

Working on a rough mix at the moment, recently been trying to 'clone' if you like, the crusade off of the latest same-titled trivium album. A bit of a rare oppurtunity lately with full time work bombarding me this year :smack:

Wondering if im heading in the right direction myself, and seeing as im always ranting on about the bloody 5150 (ahem), thought i might as well post a clip to back that up, all-be-it short but sweet lol.

My main problem (other than shabby mixing) is actually softening the whole sound up to coincide with professional records. I've tried a lot of compression techniques on the whole track, but still looking for the magic!

Well, see how you like it and any opinions and comments would be much appreciated 8-)

Cheers

Kev

Right sound sounds a lot louder than the left side, really weird listening to it for some reason.

Also sounds towards the end like there's a guitar track in the center, or panned close to center?

Once the double bass drum kicks in, the stereo guitar is gone, just mono.

Sounds pretty close tonewise though.

Virtual Kevorkian, we may not agree on much, but I'm with you on the mix, somethings funny about how you mixed the track bro, it just sounds off. I can't really put my finger on it. It sounds like one guitar is mixed hard right, and the other is center, instead of hard left, and yeah, the right one is louder, it's kind of a confusing listen, but the tone is there. You just need to work on your recording chops. ;) 5150's kick ass :D
