New Song

Well, here's my new one. The singer is a lady from Buenos Aires, so the baffling language is Spanish. Let's hope you guys enjoy it just the same. It's been hard graft. It's been seriously tough work to record the bass, the guitars and the drums programming. As to the final mix, well... looks like I don't have a great flair but I did try my very best. Cheers!

Re: New Song

LOVE the riffing. Especially the clean riffing. The distorted tone is a bit thin in comparison, but the playing was great! I like her voice, and REALLY dug how she matched the gliscendo toward the end.

Re: New Song

Thanks, AmirH! Yeah, I'll no longer fall back on that Gtr Rig thing for distortion. I think it's below contempt; or perhaps I can't use it properly and tap only 5% of it. But I've done my best and it's been tough work!
Cheers!

Re: New Song

Ah, guitar rig, that makes sense. My favorite software modelers are revalver and studio devil guitar amp, but I almost always mic a real amp with an sm57 anymore. Aggressive eq can help beef up that sound, and I think it might be possible to bypass the speaker emulation on guitar rig and use an impulse response within a reverb plugin to thicken things up more. I haven't even attempted such things in ages but I remember hearing lots of very impressive results from people using this technique.

Re: New Song

Thanks for the advice, AmirH! I live in a tiny flat so I couldn't even dream of a real amp and a mic. It would be wicked, indeedy - and professional. I'd love (and seriously need) to spend a nice amount of hours in a real studio sometime, and with a real drummer. Yeah, I'm a dilettante as far as the mixing arts are concerned :nervous:
Thanks a lot for listening, mate!
Cheers!

Re: New Song

Very cool song. Won't comment on the sonics as you are a self-admitted n00b. Good play getting it done and out there, though!

Joking apart, thanks a lot for having a go at it! Cheers!
