New Strat/Tele bodies at Guitarfetish

not sure if anyone else has seen these yet:

~$50 for painted paulownia wood or unfinished ash. given that even the junkiest Chinese plywood Strat bodies go for $50 on Ebay, these might be nice for a project. not sure about the neck - the frets can't be worth a #### at that price, but for all I know these bodies could be from the same factories that do work for Mighty Mite (decent quality).

I read up on paulownia wood and apparently it has a better strength-to-weight ratio than balsa and tends to be pretty resonant (works well for musical instruments).

Wow.

I still need something for my bridge tests (all bridges on one guitar). Too mad they don't have alder.

I wonder what shipping comes to.

Re: New Strat/Tele bodies at Guitarfetish

its a pain that the bridges arent pre-drilled. i feel thats going to put a lot of people off or cause a lot of mistakes, lol.

So does cardboard ;)

Personally, for 50 bucks you can't really go wrong. That's a great throw around git in the making.

I am skeptical of Stankonia or whatever the bodies are made out of, but I have always been impressed with Guitarfetish and their house brand, GFS's hardware.

Re: New Strat/Tele bodies at Guitarfetish

I ordered an unfinished Ash body for my bridge experiments.

Does anybody have one of these Wilkinso Tele bridges that do both string-through-body and topmount? Can I buy or borrow it?

Re: New Strat/Tele bodies at Guitarfetish

Those plus a nice Fender, Squier or Mighty Mite neck and some good pickups could make a sweet cheap project.

Oh, and where in the hell is the three tone sunburst?

Re: New Strat/Tele bodies at Guitarfetish

Or the Lake Placid Blue Tele? Make it bound, while you're at it.

Eh, I kinda want to wait to see what Kurt will be offering as far as higher quality stuff he mentioned that is coming out in the fall.

Still bothers me I got rid of a 80's yellow USA BC Rich Gunslinger body that sold for less than $50 not including the $15 I had to pay to ship it. I was expecting at least $100 for it.
