new to pickups..need suggestions/opinions

im looking to throw some new pickups in my strat, its a pos knockoff but i love it and i wanna make it scream.

i was advised to look into APS-1 alnico II pro staggered for the neck and middle and either a quater pound or STK-S2 hot stack for the bridge.

i have pretty much no idea what the deal is on these pups, i listened to some clips on the site and i like the sound of the hot stack so really i wanna know if this is a good combo.

neck and middle the alnico and bridge the hot stack?

any other ideas are encouraged also im looking for a blues/classic rock sound so if that helps.

my amp is terrible and will be replaced hopefully around xmas but for now i need ideas for some good pups.

The Duncans you're asking about would be a good choice.....but, if the guitar is a POS, why not get a set of GFS Alnicos? $60 to $70 for the set and they sound darn good.

thanks for the response....i was gettin worried no one would chime in.

i shouldve payed more attention, i meant the pups are crap. i love the actual guitar, great neck and everything else seems to be in order. just wanna get a better sound out of her and try to make the guitar i love the most worthy of a #1 crown.

Try and get a better amp aswell, that will make a world of difference! You might not be able to really tell much of a difference in pickups if your amp really sucks.

I say listen to the pickup clips and such, and make a choice from there. I'd say also that a "safe" decision might be the Everything Axe set. For "scream", it depends on your interpretation of "scream". Do you "shred"? What styles of music do you play? There are a LOT of factors.

i love the aps singles. i have a pair in the neck and middle of one of my main gig guitars with a twangbanger bridge. warm vintage single coil tone, not as glassy as the vintage model but i like the extra mids.
