New Toy today -that plays like a dream.

I know its a bass, but it's a guitar and a very special one at that. -plus the bass forum is a waste. So I thought I'd post hear for your luthier appreciation.

Could't pass this one up when I saw it today.

Kramer Travis Bean 1979 DMZ 4001 with active switch.

Near Mint, One owner, no fret wear -neck is perfect straight.

Plays like a dream, sounds unreal (the DMZ had special Dimarzio pickups designed for this bass) -I don't play bass in a band only guitar right now, but will use in the studio for now.

Interesting headstock

I don't usually like natural finishes but this one looks pretty clean, simple, and classy.

Glad it plays well and unique pickups are always cool!

Why should this neck ever warp? Its made aluminium with some wood inserts to make the neck feel warmer in your hand.

Play it in sunlight and it will never stay in tune. Ask me how I know.

I understand that, traditionally a lot of Travis Bean Kramers have slight neck warps if not cared for.

This one is perfect as it should be.

Ha, judging that I played about 50 gigs in that last 2 years and none were in the sunlight or daytime -I'm thinking I'm ok -plus I don't play bass in the band.

Tell me about this gig you had where it had issues -interested.

Does the aluminum contract in the sun dramatically?

Re: New Toy today -that plays like a dream.

It sounds amazing. It can mimic a Pbass and a Ric -which is cool.
I bet that guy maybe worth a lot of coin someday. Plus they make excellent winter clothing as well.

SERIOUSLY? Did you flunk science?
How can you not know that heat expands and cold contracts?

I had a Travis Bean 6-string in the 80's it had huge tuning issues, especially in the NE winter. If the neck got cold I would have to wait for it to get back to room temperature to have stable tuning again. It was a great sounding guitar but had its issues.

I understand science -I don't know how dramatic it is while playing a gig with a Travis Bean -which is my question.

WHat is your problem? why do you act like a prick on here constantly?

It's a simple original question

Hey -thanks for a reasonable answer. I've owned a Travis Bean before, but it never left the climate control of a studio so I never had any issues. But the tuning issues makes sense

That fork headstock is a cleassic aluminum Travis Bean style -very popular in the 70s and early 80s -Kramer and Travis Bean made several thousand all aluminum and aluminum with wood insert necks that are highly valued today.

They are extremely heavy and have a subtly unique resonance.

If you ever see one in the store try it out
