New Tubes for a Peavey Triple XXX

Hey guys. It's about time to retube this amp, but I am not sure what I should get for tubes.

It has 4 6L6 and 4 12AX7 tubes.

I am looking for a relatively high output, beefy/heavy sound... but I would like the amp to squeal less, and get somewhat less feedback. I find at shows that even when I mute my strings, I often have squealing.

So basically, pretty high output, beefy/heavy, but cut down on the squealing.

by the way, I use a Fender American Strat with a Hotrails in the bridge.

JJ's are a good suggestion, but, I'd probably go with Svetlana 6L6's, a Groove Tubes Mullard 12ax7 in V1, and either Chinese or JJ 12ax7s in the other 3 preamp slots.

Peavey has some real issues with JJ power tubes so you might want to read through the Peavey forum to get some other input. I have Svet EL34 power tubes and a mixed bag of pre's. I don't recommend the JJ for the PI socket very fizzy sounding IMO.

I've always had good luck with Sovtek tubes. They're not as expensive as a lot of other brands. Ruby Tubes are also quite good and Groove Tubes are always a good bet.

I've heard the same thing. Better safe than sorry, so go with the Svets.
