New tubes for my Mesa

This is my first time re-tubing my amp. Its a series I Single Rectifier. It has 2 6l6's. I was curious...in order to have the amp self bias, do I need to buy Mesa tubes, or do I have options. And if I have options whats a good tube, and where do I buy them.

I've had the amp for about a year...so I'm thinking all I need is power tubes. I did the flick test on the pre-amp tubes and it passed so i guess those are okay.

Thanks in advance :)

It's a fixed bias, not a self bias.

Self biasing amps will adjust themselves to work with any tubes, regardless of heat range.

Fixed bias amps require a tubes within a certian heat range.

If you buy Mesa, you're garanteed that they'll work with your amp. I suggest the STR-454s if you go that route. They're Svetlana tubes, and to me they sound better than the STR-430s (Sovtec), which are the tubes your amp came with stock.

I bought mine from www.thetubestore.com. I ordered a set of Svetlana's and told them it was for a Rectifier, they sent me the correct tubes to match my amp. Easy as pie.
