New Warmoth Build

baritone

From the ground up. I had this idea for a while, & I finally got it completed. It's a Warmoth T baritone intended for punk rock & classic rock stylings to look rustic with some modernized features. I didn't actually assemble it; I had a luthier shop nearby put it together for me.

Congratulations, that's really sweet looking.
Thank you! It looks amazing; it feels awesome, all lightweight with Strat contours. And the 2 Quarter Pound pickups give me a sound which works for Soundgarden, Rancid, & Social Distortion.

It's 28.625" scale tuned to B-standard. I play exclusively B or Bb. I had a feeling this color scheme would be amazing: roasted, unfinished maple; roasted, unfinished ash; black hardware; & cream pickguard. By being all roasted & unfinished, it's a vey lightweight instrument - I think around 7lbs total.

Yeah man. It's gorgeous. That's all just the color of the roasted wood? Really really nice. My one real baritone is also 28.625". I enjoy that scale length, it seems to offer a lot of snap and flexibility.

It is a very cool and unique pickup combo, too!
Yep, there's no neck pickup. The middle pickup is a Quarter Pound Strat for bridge position, so it's relatively RWRP compared to the Tele bridge pickup. My style would be series wiring all the way, but I opted for parallel wiring this time around for more strumming capability.

I'd think parallel wiring would sound better than series, anyway, especially with the QP.

i agree about parallel, two qps in series, especially at a low tuning, could be mush. love the middle/bridge pup thing! very cool

The resulting tone is better in parallel. I don't listen to a lot of Deftones, but I got that bridge/middle thing from Stephen Carpenter, & I like it quite a bit.

That's what 4-way switches are for! I have a QP tele set with a 4-way, and the series operation on the switch has a time and a place. It can be a bit much under heavy gain, though, and the lowest I tune that tele to is Open D. I can see the series operation getting mushy in B standard, and when I assembled my baritone tele I avoided both QPs and a 4-way.
