Newb Question - Direct mount VS Pickguard mount

I have an S style guitar with 3 direct mount single coils. Are all single coils installable in both direct mount and pickguard mount or do I need to look for a specific design?

For direct mount, you need to either find wood screws that will pass right through the machine screw-threaded tabs in the bobbin, or deal with the fact that once you thread wood screws through the bobbin, the machine screws won't work.

The good news is . . . if you have a modicum of DIY skills, there are several ways to reverse this. Just ask in the forum when that day comes around.

For example, you could get three sets of these, and just "tack" the new bobbin bottom to the current pup with a couple dabs of RTV. Less than $10.
