I bought a stripped body off Craigslist for $30 - 1 1985 Aria Pro II xx-ms Flying V. The only hardware on it is the truss road and the springclaw underneath.
I ordered a Strat style tremelo from All Parts, because this appears to be what was in there. One research spot said his had a Floyd Rose Tremelo, however its not routed for a locked tremelo.
I purchased SH-1 (Type 59) for the neck and a SH-4 for the rear upon advice and some research. I got black pickup rings, and installed them exactly wrong, but what music store guy told me, hmmmm. It's no biggie to remove em. However, installing the springs in the pickup and ring is a real pain in the butt. What's the trick there? Haven't got that far. Just bolted em on wrong. LOL.
Today, I picked up two 500 pots, 3 way switch, and the cord plug. I'm going right now to pick up a cap and some extra wire and thin rosen based solder.
I'm going to try and do the soldering myself, but will do so under the supervision of a fellow who's an electrical engineer. I have the wiring diagrams that came with the pickups.
I don't know yet, but it might be hard to match up a pickguard.
I'm excited about this axe. I have a Fender Squier and really don't like the neck. This one feels sweet.
Hope that tremelo gets in, so I can go down to the store and fit a nut.
What do you think about this project? I've been reading here the last few days, heard some of your music, am impressed and seek your wisdom.
Once everything is fitted, I have a guy who used to work for Guitar Center who will set it up.
I already got more money into the V than the price of the Fender and the Yamaha amp for it.
