Newbie needs helpsie/wire diags

Parker P-38 owner, HSS. I already replaced Parker HB w/ SD JB, added micro DPDT to isolate A-coil. Very nice. Want to add two, new-to-me used STK-S1 stacks and add DPDT to each of them, to isolate the upper coil. ??? Which wire does what? I've scanned the diags at SD, but haven't seen what I'm looking for. (I've got Cooliris and its like watching them on IMAX). Whatever wisdom you could pass on could be repaid in another life time, I suppose.

tia!

Welcome the the forum phfobric. As to which wire does what, you might want to look at this diagram. (I hope you're not color blind like me.)

I'm not sure why you need a DPDT to isolate a single coil. All you really need is a SPST if you are only interested in isolating one of the humbucker coils. I assume that your default wiring is having the two humbucker coils in series. The standard SD way to do this is to connect the red and white wires. Green is used as the ground, while black is used as hot. If you want to use the north (black/white) coil, you short the red/white pair to ground (green). This is pretty much the standard configuration in the SD diagrams. If you want to use the south (red/green) coil, you would short the red/white pair to hot (black).

I hope that helps. Hermetico is probably one of the most expert members on SDUGF when it comes to wiring. I consider his blog to be required reading.

Re: Newbie needs helpsie/wire diags

Thanks for the reply and guidance. Although the link was helpful, I was looking for the wire "code" for the Classic Stack; a HB with one coil ON TOP of the other. You'd think the one on top is North, but I know what happens when I ass/u/me anything.

And on further review, an SPST would do the job. The diag for my SD JB HB to be split listed a DPDT (and a push-pull pot, too), so I just got that, silly me. Thanks again. Great spot, this...
