Newest chinese-made Epi's : thumbs up!

Great White Malice
Hey doodz,

Just played a SG and DOT 335 at the store this weekend. They really raise the quality level on those! Awesome job IMO.

I had a korean SG some years ago, and it felt rather cheap, but the newest chinese is much closer to the real thing. The edges are waaaay more sharper (like a good ol '61).

The SG I tried had that deep tone that I really dig, and the wood grain and color is real great, like the real thing again. Plus, they now have Grover tuners.

The 335 was a very lively one. Another nice piece. The only con : they dont have neck binding... :(

Now Im gas-ing again... oh damn, will it ever end ? :)

Re: Newest chinese-made Epi's : thumbs up!

I just played an Epi Goth LP and the Studio Dot in black. Both were really good, fretwork was a bit rough but otherwise I was shocked at how well they were made. The Studio Dot was only $299 new, what a great drag around and bash it up guitar.

The other Chinese made guitar that impressed me recently was the Fernandes Ravelle. Except for a few trim details that was a very nice guitar as well.
