NG, Epiphone Les Paul

wow, what a beauty! It is (I believe) a 2004 Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop. And what a top... I really love the color (HCS) and the flame on this top(veneer)... It has covered pickups that look amazing, sound decent (HOTCH and 57CH).
I got it for only 180 bucks, I think thats a bargain! It really needed a clean and fretboard conditioner badly, so now she is in good hands. Only thing, it doesn't set up all to well, the relief is good but the bridge needs to be pretty high to avoid buzzing in the top frets (neck angle issue?) but it plays alright and I just love how it looks, and it sounds really good too, especially on the neck PU.
Overall I'm happy, I had huge GAS for a LP and this popped up cheap so I drove 260km to get it and bring it back home. enjoy the pictures!

Nice price. You'd definitely hear an improvement in clarity and tone quality if you upgrade PU's, like a couple of Duncan PAF's.

Nice!

Hope it all gets sorted out!

:headbang:

I got it setup quite nicely now, the action is a hair higher than I would describe as "optimal" for myself, but I'm in love with it.

thanks! I knew its going to be a bit of a project guitar, but for this price I couldn't say no (it used to be 400-500 new)
for sure, thats planned. have to save up for that, but I really want to get a nice seymour duncan set with covers again, it just looks great in this one. I'm sure I can get the PAF's with covers somewhere, Distortions would be a cool thing too.... who knows :D

Nice! Did it come without a pickguard?

I don't know why people make fun of Epiphone users, I have one and get stick for it all the time, if only they could hear it in action as I've changed the bridge pickup, installed an Earvana nut and replaced the tailpiece for an aluminium one. Sounds on par with my main guitar which is a Gibson. After all its just a name on a headstock, good tone is in the hands!

yes it came with a pickguard but I prefer the look without one, so I took it off first thing. The hole they made for the pickguard is very rough and some of the paint popped off .... huge bummer. Planning to fix this next thing, maybe nailpolish will work?

I'm very happy to have my Epi, they can get really close to Gibsons and I really enjoy modding my Guitars, putting pickups in and I might change the bridge to a real tune o matic one, also one tone pot is a bit scratchy but I think its just because its old and needs some movement and electronics cleaner.

Re: NG, Epiphone Les Paul

Why do people who truly love their guitars so much feel the need to mention how much they paid for it?
