Just finished this. Maple top, maple back, maple neck with ebony stripes, Tele type bridge plate, C5 bridge pup, Jazz neck pup, Dave's "do-it-all" wiring. Very low action, Plays effortlessly. Sounds great.

Bob's post about the green guitar he was trying to find reminded me of this one. So I just had to post it.

All maple and then ebony? I'm thinking super bright...

When I was designing it, I also expected it to be bright. Actually, it's very well balanced. The Jazz neck is even pretty full sounding...not bright at all like many people claim. The guitar is full chambered and has a crispness yet mellowness and complexity to it that wouldn't be there if it were solid maple.

The fretboard is Morado which gives it lots of mids. The fretboard, IMO, is the most important tonewood in the guitar and has the greatest affect on it's final tone.

Actually, come to think about it, I believe I put an A8 magnet in the Custom. I'll have to check. I'll also weigh it. Most of my guitars are between 6 and 7 pounds.

OK, so I was confusing this Custom with another one...this is just a straight Custom with the original ceramic magnet. It doesn't sound like it though. I usually hate the brittle, bright, fizzy high end of ceramics, but this one definitely sounds more like A8.

It's pretty lite...just 5 pounds 14 ounces. You could gig with this one all night long even with a bad back (like me).
