NGD. 1983 Ibanez Artist Semi Hollow

I scored this 1983 Ibanez AS80 last week. The previous owner had no plans of selling it but I talked him into selling it to me. At his house, we plugged it through vintage Fenders amps (HEAVENLY SOUNDING AMPS!)...I think we first used a 70's Twin Reverb, and then a 73 Super Reverb.. Lastly, he had a Marshall Silver Jubilee combo that he wanted me to try out. Goosebumps. Instant GNR tones from that amp! Spent most of its lifetime in the hardcase. All stock. Minimal scratches. No dings. :smokin:

Anyways, here she is.

I think I need to talk him into selling me that Silver Jubilee combo as well. :smack:

Nice, they are glorious sounding and extremely well made guitars... congrats to you, you have a lot of versatility with those axes!

Thanks guys! The owner played it against a vintage ES335 and he chose this over the 335. I lovethe Super58 pickups in it. Very articulate even under high gain.

Cool- I didn't realize they made AS series in 83 ... I thought they were only making AM in that year

Enjoy!

Thanks tone4days! They made the AS80 and AS200 during 1983. :)

Great looking guitar. I haven't played an 80s artist I didn't like.

Thanks Rich_T! I'd love to get my hands on an AS200 or even the older solid body AR models. My brother has a 2004 MIK AR300FM. Superb guitar. Maple cap + mahogany body.

You have a really nice collection of guitars man. :friday:

Thank you! I still think I need a Les Paul or similar, but not a Strat. I never bonded with Strats. :smack:

Here's the complete rig in our bedroom. The Fender Dual Showman Reverb belongs to my brother, as well as the Les Paul custom, PRS SE and Ibanez AR300. The GSR bass, GRG and blonde SX tele belong to our friends who sent them in for repair.

Hi, I bought this Artist brand new from Denmark Street in London as my first electric guitar. It is wonderful to see one exactly the same and equally loved by its owner. I play mine every day (badly) despite the more expensive sisters she has in the second picture. I will never part with her although I would love to know how much she is worth. I doubt if I paid more than £150 in 1983.

The others are a Tele Deluxe Ash body circa 2007, a Strat Plus circa 1989 and a Les Paul Standard (2001)

Happy New Year and fine picking,

Dr Golf

Congratulations, beautiful and beautiful sounding guitar! Used to have a tobacco sunburst one back in the late 80's, wish I still had it.
