I got this Charvel for a STEAL! It sounds pretty cool, I thought I would try 9s again but 9s don't sound very good for my technique so I need to put 10s but the guitar sounds FANTASTIC!

SPECS:
25.5" Scale
Maple Neck thru
Rosewood board
Poplar Wings
Jackson Floyd (I think)
DiMarzio pickups, unkown, previous owner doesn't know what they are either. I assume Super Distortion Bridge and Air Zone or Tone Zone Neck
2x Vol 2x Tone

Sweet Guitar. Somebody modded the hell out of it, but it looks pretty clean. Very little obvious wear. Nice!
Jackson JT-6 Trem. Looks to be in good shape too. Check the string lock screws for stripping/deformation. I stripped mine out in 1990. I see a trem arm in the case. Is it the original with the plastic bushings? Few of those trem arms have survived the intervening decades. Frets on the net has some replacement parts if you need them.

Yes, yes they did lol and in terms of the trem arm I do think it also is original. The bridge is in really good condition, from what I hear it was a case slave and that's it. The frets aren't even super worn, just yucky from age and I didn't have time to polish them.

Super Distortions typically have chrome poles. I'd guess that's an Evo in the bridge. Probably an Air Norton in the neck. Air Zone and Tone Zone are usually used in the bridge. Check under the pickups for the ID numbers when you change the strings next time. :)

I am thinking more PAF Pro in the bridge

I had an 88 M6 in that color. Wonderful playing guitar. I hated the three switches for the pickups,I dont blame anyone for modding them :argh:

Congrats.

Nice grab...Welcome to the Charvel family if you are already not.

Def a JT-6 on there. I like the fine adjustment design on them but its made of cheap metal unfortunately, cracked a few string blocks! Keep in mind if you want to swap pups that the JT-6 is actually STANDARD spacing, not F.

Re: NGD: 1989 Charvel Model 5a MODDED

Why do you think it is a 5A?

Looks like a regular Model 5. My guess for the pickups is a PAF and PAF Pro.

if you read :P it says added neck pickup. ALSO the the control placement is MUCH different then a regular model 5.

That's a pretty exclusive club....having an '87 '88 and '91 I am appalled! :)

I have an '89 Model 2 that's been sitting in pieces in various parts bins since about 2005; the neck has been on my '86 Model 4 since then. Does that count?

I also have an '87 Model 1A.

All you need is a matching logo to join the club. I am the chairman so don't expect any contact or club related things.
