NGD 1996 USA Fender Strat Ultra

So, I picked it up at the pawn shop today. It was in need of a good cleaning. I went over it pretty well. Brought back a little life to a beautiful 19 old guitar.

Here she is in the workshop:


Fender 50th anniversary (and locking tuners):


It has a Fender/Floyd Rose branded locking tremolo bridge which is pretty neat. I do not have it set up as floating, it is pulled down to the body.
I wish I could get the maple top and back to show up better in the pictures, but I don't have a quality camera...

The pickups are Red Lace Sensor X2 in the bridge position, Silver Lace Sensor in the middle, and Blue Lace Sensor in the neck position.
The Red Lace Sensors have some great rhythm tones and can certainly rock.

I believe this is the first guitar I've owned with the TBX tone control. I didn't mess with it too much, but it's there.
The 3 way switch for the 2 bridge pickups is pretty awesome. I can get either pickup or both in series which is nice.

Nice! With proper maintenance the LSR and Floyd bridge perform pretty well, especially floating. The LSR tends to gunk up, so keep it nice and clean. Also, don't crank down too hard on the bridge lock bolts, they are softer than you think.

I liked the TBX better on my neck pickup to get a little extra sparkle.

That flame is gorgeous.
These Strat Ultras were such cool guitars. I've never seen one in blue. It is lovely.

great axe. the bridge is really low and comfortable. the saddles aren't the most adjustable. the pickups should be replaced. JB/SSL-1/SSL-1...rock 'n roll.

I have the same exact guitar from the same year lol. This was the top model of the 'Plus' series and Fenders highest price production model at the time, it is also only one of two Strats (until recently) that ever came with an Ebony fretboard. The finish on the guitar is called -Blue Burst - and a lot of them have parts that were intended for CS guitars.You scored really nice as they are awesome guitars and you don't see too many up for sale.

I had a '90 plus deluxe in Crimson burst that I sold (too cheap) to fund a warmoth strat hardtail.

It was a great playing guitar but had a certain dullness to the tone. Thud thud thud.
It had the wilkinson nut and stayed in tune better than any standard trem guitar I have ever touched.

I guess I miss it sometimes, but I recently put my warmoth back together and it is a better player and sounds really good for a modern strat.
