Ever since I saw Adrian Smith playing a Gold Top Les Paul in an old Iron Maiden video, I've always wanted one. However, they were always out of my reach, financially. Well, thanks to the recent oil boom in South Texas, I now have a sweet new job and now I can finally afford the gear I've been dreaming of! Anyways, here's a few phone pics:
As you can clearly see, it's not a Gold Top like Adrian Smiths', but damn when I saw that highly flamed maple top, I fell in love. I'm really happy with the color, too. Most of the LP's I've seen either have that really bright red Cherryburst around the edges, or that really dark Tobacco Sunburst type (Not that there's anything wrong with those finishes, just too much contrast for me) This one almost looks like Translucent Amber, except it's got a really subtle orange shading around the border. I've heard a ton of people say that Gibson's quality control has been pretty crappy lately. This guitar, however, is FLAWLESS. I gave it a thorough inspection, and other than the intonation being a slight bit off, it's perfect, the craftsmanship is definitely top notch. Most importantly, she plays like a dream! Low action without any buzz, even frets, I'm even liking the stock Burstbucker pickups, all the wiring options give me tons of different tones. Well that's enough talk for now, time to go play with my new toy.
