NGD a little good, a little bad

Got home from a couple days on the road and my new LTD TL6 was waiting for me on the front porch. 24 hours later, I'm still torn on it.

All of the tuners were loose and rattling when playing.
Nut is not flat, it's leaning towards the fretboard
Nut is also really tall and slots are really deep. Even the low E string is completely buried in the nut.
Bridge is really high as well, overall it is set up almost perfectly for slide

I put new strings on, cleaned a ton of gunk off the neck (new guitar) and tightened the tuners. It sounds pretty good and fixing the bridge and nut will improve the action. It's frustrating that I am going to have to put in a bunch of hours fixing up a brand new guitar, but it's exactly what I wanted and there aren't a lot of other options out there.

I've got a new nut blank on order and will shave down the bridge when I replace the nut.

If it is exactly what you wanted then to me it is well worth it to get it fixed to top-notch shape especially considering the price and that it was made in Indonesia (at least the ones I just looked up were.)

If it was a custom built guitar I could understand being frustrated about it but I buy every guitar knowing I will be getting it setup the way I like it and all...the gunk I can also understand but could be many possibilities for that.

I bought a guitar from guitarcenter.com once and had it shipped to me from 5 states away or better. It was used. But when it arrived, I was shocked that it looked like it did....I paid $200 shipping and all and when i opened the box it came in, there was NOT A SCRATCH to be found.....not even on the nickel pickup covers....

WAIT A MINUTE....DID YOU SAY AFTER A COUPLE DAYS?! WHO WAS THE CARRIER THAT DELIVERED IT TO YOU AND WHY DID THEY LEAVE IT ON YOUR PORCH IN THE ELEMENTS?

That's the plan, I'm just a little frustrated that I have to do it. It's only going to cost a couple bucks for the parts and a few hours of my time, I'm fortunate in that regard. It's also not like I'm being overly picky, these are pretty obvious issues that show a pretty lax QC standard.

No, it was delivered a couple hours before I got home. I was on the road for a couple days but timed the order so it would be delivered on a day I was home.

OK...I get it now....I was about to say UPS or FEDEX would be buying me another guitar if that was the case and that wouldve been what caused the issues.

As far as the issues you have go, good luck. Im working on a custom project at the moment and cant find the time to solder my pickgaurd up yet. Been that way for about 2 weeks now.

Is yours made in Indonesia?

Yeah, the sub $1,000 guitars are really hit and miss on the quality from my experience. I had an LTD Relic Floyd Rose Strat that was a great guitar for the price I had in it but it was Indonesian and had quite a bit of QC issues.

I didn't look for the country of origin. I have a ST203 that needed some frets leveled but is a great strat for the $200 I paid for it.

Re: NGD a little good, a little bad

When I ordered my Thunderhorse online from GC, I was shipped two guitars. One was in perfect condition, the other looked like it had been dropped from ten stories. The headstock was snapped off, the finish was terrible in spots, and so on. It was even packed loosely in the box. It was one of the most bizarre things that has ever happened to me. I'm just happy I opened the good guitar first.

Like, they accidentally sent you a broken guitar that you didn't order? That's strange...What was it?

Re: NGD a little good, a little bad

Do you still have everything? Take pics of the broken headstock, and it might be easily repairable. Finish touch up are also a possibility.

Definitely great for the price! I had fretwork, pickups and electronics upgraded, setup, and a big brass block added but for the price it was incredible.
