NGD - Angus Young SG

Seems like just last week on this forum i was lamenting Gibson's latest guitars. Well every now and then you find a good one. GC was blowing out the 2013 Angus Young SG so i checked it out. Was brand new, in the box when i opened it up. I loved the finish, the slim neck, and i thought the Angus pickup sounded really good. really raw and crunchy. Also it has lightning bolt inlays. I could not pass that up. And the price was right for a guitar that was originally selling for $1899.99. I'm in the process of de-Angusing it a bit (already swapped out the cream switch washer for a black one, next i'm getting a blank truss cover). Anyway i'm really liking it and relearning all the ac/dc classics i used to know.

Doesn't matter what you do to that one you'll never de-Angus it with those lightening bolts jumping out..... I love it. Not usually a fan of sig stuff but as Angus is the top man I'd live with that!

Re: NGD - Angus Young SG

Just needs a full face pickguard;)
Always loved Angus' signature guits, personally though I'd go for another Les Paul for the new price of that.

That guitar will stay valuable and desirable as long as there's AC/DC fans. It may be just another signature guitar now, but years from now (if they don't make far too many), it'll be a rare collectible.

Re: NGD - Angus Young SG

My nephew has one of those. They are very nice. He loves his, but it stays home. It does not go to his gigs. I agree with gearjonser that you should keep as mint as possible. One day it should be worth a lot more than you paid.

Re: NGD - Angus Young SG

yeah they are already selling used for more than i paid for it. it was tagged at $1249 and i got it a little below that. nothing i'm doing cosmetically can't be undone, and i'm keeping the original hardware in case i decide to sell it. but for now i'm pretty happy playing riff raff all day long on it.

I dunno, throw some KISS stuff on there and it could be an Ace SG.

Re: NGD - Angus Young SG

I'd encourage you to play it till it's worn out, but keeping every part that came stock with it.

I wish Duncan could sell an Angus Young signature set, but it's not a done deal. I think it's basically a dialed in Pearly Gates set that Maricela Juarez makes for him.

Re: NGD - Angus Young SG

Congrats on the guitar!;) I'm an SG owner myself and you can't go wrong with this guitar. The AY pickup is Gibson's hottest Alnico pickup next to the 498T. That pickup is a keeper for sure. The neck pickup could use some Seymour treatment...maybe a Seth Lover? Anyway, just don't store it underneath the bed...you must play the living **** out of it.:firedevil

Re: NGD - Angus Young SG

I too am jealous! I would love to have one of these. For what it is worth though, I have "Angus-ed" my red 2012 SG. '57 Classic Neck, Angus Young Signature Bridge. I love the way that guitar sounds. Never been a huge SG fanboy, but this one now is one of my favorite sounding guitars.
