NGD... another sweet Tom Anderson joins the herd...

Traded my Fralin-loaded 2001 LP Standard to a guy over at TGP for a 2009 Tom Anderson Classic (it's the "desert sunset" one on the left). I already had a Classic (the trans red one). But this "new" one's got a fatter neck and sounds different. More natural and woody. The HF2 humbucker at the bridge was too weak for my tastes, so I swapped it out with an HF3 that I had laying around. It sounds awesome. This guitar seems to excel at country on the cleaner end, and heavy blues (Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepard, etc) and gritty rock (Brother Cane, Thin Lizzy, etc) on the other. The trans red one is also great for country and rock, but a little less stratty and woody. Definitely my preferred do-it-all guitar though. The quilted Drop Top Classic excels that heavier rock, from Van Halen to AIC, etc.

Anyways... each Anderson is different enough that I'm not feeling like I'm totally duplicating tones. These guitars are just so versatile and awesome. Fit & finish, tone, and playability are top notch on all three guitars and there's nothing being played on any stage on the planet that's "better" than these guitars. After a lifetime of chasing that dream rig... I feel like I'm finally there (between the Andersons, and the Friedman and Splawn amps).

Very nice guitars, congrats on the new find. You're set with that Splawn. I've been to Scott's shop many times, drooling every time I was in there. He worked on a Marshall for me and upgraded an old 4x12 with new tolex and grill cloth. I'd still love to have one of his 2 channel 50 Watters. Quick Rod, Street Rod?

Anyhow, congrats on the new find and it looks like you can nail just about any tone you could want.

Thanks! It's a 2012 Quickrod. I just leave it in 50-watt mode all the time. A wonderful amp! It's strengths are definitely the higher-gain stuff. I usually choose to plug into it when I'm in the mood for AIC and stuff like that. It'll do lower-gain and clean stuff well too... But it's hard to beat the Friedman Smallbox for that.

Wow, just a complete and magnificent rig! Congrats.

Thanks man. It is pretty d#%m magnificent, eh? I get higher on these guitars and amps every single day I'm blessed enough to hang around this life long enough to play one more time. They really are a joy to play and hear. I could not possibly be higher on this rig than I am. After nearly 33 years of buying and playing gear... this is as good as I can possibly imagine anything being. I've never had guitars that were so flawless and consistent as these Andersons (and I've owned a TON of guitars over the years).

Must be badass to trade a LP for!
:)

Got a pic of yer new-ish YJM?

Yup... as badass as electric guitars get in my opinion.

Sure... here's a pic of the Yngwie strat. I put the Ferrari decal on there, as well as on my red American Squire strat and my Friedman Smallbox. The sticker on the Yngwie strat is especially fitting, considering Yngwie's obsession with Ferraris (I'm stricken with a similar obsession).

Very cool!

I've got a friend who's rich and a high-end car affianado. He currently has three Ferraris. 328GTB in red. Testa Rossa in red. And a 2015 F12 Berlinetta in silver. He also owned 2010 458 Italia in red, and a 2014 Italia in black. I've ridden in all of them and it was heaven. He's currently got his sights set on a new 488 Spider when they are finally released. He built a 10,000 square foot warehouse for all of his toys (they are many), and a friend of his purchased a 2014 458 Spider in red (one of my dream cars) last fall. So he's storing the Spider in the warehouse for him and has full permissions to drive it when he wants. I spent time in and around it, but haven't gotten a chance to ride in it yet... though I did get to start it up. Below is a pic of me standing next to it. I've blurred my face out, because these guys are pretty private about their wealth in our gossipy community, and I just don't want to overstep my bounds on it. Note my friend's three Ferraris in the background of the bottom pic.
