NGD Brian Moore

Interesting axe, Brian Moore i2, kept looking at it at my local shop, and the owner finally made me an offer I couldn't pass up. It was a NAMM demo from 2000, and I figured they'd pick their best-of-the-best for a NAMM demo. Stock pups are SD's, Alnico II Pro in the neck and JB in the bridge, push-pull splits both pups. I replaced the cheap stock bridge with a Tonepros locking set, and it REALLY opened up the tone, turning from an interesting guitar into a pretty darn nice guitar! Probably going to change out the JB, for something that's a little better compliment/blend with the Alnico II...

I have a Brian Moore, too! I was one of their artists in the early 2000s. Mine is a double cutaway with a synth pickup on it. It is a really nice guitar, but when they finished it, the blue dye they used faded badly to a weird milky purple. I'd like to get it refinished one day.

These days I generally play sitting down, so the strap position hasn't really been tested yet. As far as the jack goes, it a little odd in that the cable connector sticks out past the plane of the back of the guitar, kind of defeats the purpose of the recessed jack. This one is a straight ¼", no USB or 13-pin ...

I love both the strap placement and the jack placement on mine. Really a much better idea than the conventional places.

Probably going to change out the JB, for something that's a little better compliment/blend with the Alnico II...

I was just about to ask how you like the JB / AII Pro combo, but I guess you just answered that.

I hated the JB in mine, and now it has a Custom Custom. Much better.

I was thinking about the Custom Custom, or maybe WLH. The JB is a fine pickup, but I just don't think that it plays nicely with the Alnico II, they're just a little too different for my ear... It's a tough balance, I don't want to get too 'matchy-matchy', but I also don't want anything too jarringly different. I think that the Custom Custom with the alnico 2 magnets would work well... Thanks for the confirmation Mincer!

Thanks again for the affirmation Mincer! Now it really IS a new guitar! Kept the Alnico II Pro in the neck position, added the CC at the bridge, with Triple Shots, locking Tonepros bridge and tailpiece, and the push/pull in the tone pot is now a series/parallel switch been the 2 pups... I'll be gigging with it later this afternoon!

Wow! That is fantastic! I always thought the singlecut Brian Moore's were a great take on the LP shape but with much better ergonomics. The company only lasted a few years, however, as they were expensive for the time and they had trouble securing a dealer network.
