Stopped by a Walmart along the way in my adventures on the road and grabbed some Simple Green (good call Taz, I've used it on other stuff, but never thought of using it in this instance) and a couple of microfiber cloths to wipe it with. to try. Seems to be working. I can still faintly smell what all of us farm kids know as old boar funk, but not like it was. Granted, I could only smell it when I was playing it or put my nose up to the body, but it was enough to make me have a dirty look on my face. Lol

But when I get home, I'm definitely stripping the hardware off and cleaning the **** out of it.

And if it came with a case get a different case! Once a case goes really rank no amount of baking soda or anything else will get rid of the smell. I tried for months with one once. Nothing ever really cured it.

It didn't come with a case. And the Simple Green seems to be working. I've been wiping it down with it every morning and then smell seems to be gradually getting less and less every day.

Try scattering some baking powder ... Bicarbonate of Soda ... in the case, and shut the guitar in there for a day or so. Then take the guitar out, vaccuum the case and clean the guitar. Bicarb absorbs the smells.

need to try this, my strat case smells like my dog peed in it and since I haven't played my strat in a while it's fermented.
