NGD: Carvin ST300

I finally got my carvin recently and It's hands down one of the best guitars I've ever played. The playability on it is amazing. The action is really low just how I like it but without any buzz. The neck is great and I love the feel of the ebony board.

As for sound... Just as I expected amazing! Originally I thought I'd want to change the pickups but I've decided not to for now. They are actually pretty good pickups however they're not quite duncans... The neck gets a singing clear tone that I love for solos and the bridge pickup is the same way really clear but a little on the trebly side. With the active electronics you can get almost any tone. The active electronics are a great feature. When disengaged you get the classic passive humbucker tone but when engaged it adds way more clarity and a noticible jump in gain that can also be tweaked to add higher or lower amounts of gain. There is also coil taps and a phase switch that I don't really find to usefull.

The finish of this guitar is amazing and very high quality. Just look at the pictures!

I really could not be happier with this guitar. It's made exactly how I wanted with my specifications and plays and sounds as good as any guitar I've played simply becaus it's made just how I like. And the best part is it was a lot cheaper than a lot of other higher quality guitars.

Yeah I thought the back would be blue and black like the front and was originally pretty mad but I actually really like it now.

****ing hottness.

But damn, man. Play around with those switches a lil more! I'd love to have tonal options readily available like that.

Re: NGD: Carvin ST300

I put a set of those S22's in my RG4
they sound great
which set did you get the "J" neck and "B" bridge?

You would have had to specify that in your order. They will do them that way..

Thats gorgeous Bro! Carvins are excellent axes! Many of their pickups are great. I think people talk smack about their pups in forums because they are just parroting what they have read. Many Carvin players love their pups and I find they are better than most oem pups that come in guitars.
Anyhow, congrats and rock that thing!!

The coil taps are really useful I use them a lot but I really can't find many uses for the phase switch at this point.

Hell yeah, I had the Bolt kit I made, trans blue like yours actually, The first thing I notice was the neck felt better than anything I held before. It had a M22SD in the bridge and two twin blades, pretty nice. Carvin needs to be a little more descriptive on there, well everything. I want to get a set of there pickups but the discriptions for each spend the time talking about the construction. When they do talk about the tone they are really vauge. Put a tone chart or something.

Wow, cool. I NEVER saw that. I even emailed them about that, they didn't include that link. Well cool, thanks

Re: NGD: Carvin ST300

Beautiful- you may find yourself with better chops cause of the ease of playing the Carvins.

I wonder -is the Guitar about as fat sounding as an SG or thinner/brighter and do you notice added sustain from the neck thru ?

I wonder if one of these in Mahogany or Koa would be as fat roughly as an SG but more sustain and versatility.......kind of like my old BC Rich Mockingbird was.

I have an H-S-S Bolt now that's very fat sounding with excellent sustain but wonder about another neck thru also.

Mine actually is all mahogany and yes i think it sounds really close to an sg. The guitar definitely sustains a lot longer than my strat. that's all I really have to compare it to though. But I'd say the neck through really does make a noticeable difference in sustain.

Love my Carvin bro, I have a CS4... it is one EXCEPTIONAL guitar and the playability is unreal. I am seriously considering a CT324 right now...
