NGD charvel

PowerMetalRaph
I traded this for a schecter revenger i did in berserk graphics.

I love this thing and with a bit of work it will be a sweet guitar. It needs a few bolts replaced, neck pup, It has a few chips and a strap button screw that wont hold. But other than that it is fine, the best part is the frets are in great shape.

Its been modded to HSS spectrums are usually SSS

Re: NGD charvel

The bridge and middle are the stock jackson pups. And i just confirmed that it has indeed be routed out for a humbucker. A bit sad really but it still looks awesome never the less.

Re: NGD charvel

The loosely inspired by the Fender '51 P Bass pickguard is original. Usually, it would be in high contrast to the body colour. In the event of a complete refinish, the screw holes can be filled and the 'guard ditched. It would be simplicity to rejig the neck position pickup for direct mounting.

Personally, I would try to make a feature of the shrinkage/crackle appearance.

Re: NGD charvel

I've always loved this paint jobs but never cared for those style pickguards personally. Great find and always great to see old Charvels getting the appreciation they deserve!

Re: NGD charvel

Never understood pick guards covering places where a pick would never even end up

Love the finish

Its just super awesome 80's goodness..

I thought one day i could get some pickguards made with different angles on the neck pup. Just for fun.

COuld easily do this with minor modification.

Re: NGD charvel

Was that intentionally painted that way (Crackle finish) or is it just REALLY aged? (Not a diss, I really dig the way it looks)

Re: NGD charvel

Thats a cool looking finish.

Do you know how they did them? The base coat is applied ''in this case black'', Then they spray it with a misting of glue, Then before it dries the white is sprayed over it. As the glue dries it makes the white crack apart.

Re: NGD charvel

Man I am in the minority apparently, as I think crackle finishes are tacky as heck, but if you love it I'm happy for you. Congrats!

Re: NGD charvel

That thing is awesome, but that pickguard is ****ing horrid.

Don't be cruel to brotherman, lol.

Interesting about how they did the finish.

I was wondering about a transparent guard?

One other thing is that baby gets a hot high output SC humbucker in the neck!

Oh its most tacky but thats what makes it what it is. Its just a sign of the time it was made.

Its all good man i know its a unique guitar. A transparent guard could be cool only problem is the paint has faded around it so it might look like a bad British sun tan.

I thought i would use a ultrasonic pickup i have in the neck. And leave the rest.
