The /v stands for antique varnish, a shellac that they use on violins. It is sort of a relic, in that the grain can be subtly felt through the finish, and there are some intentional discoloration here and there. I don't normally go for the relic thing, but this is tasteful. It uses Gotoh hardware, which is dulled from the factory, and it has a set of Antiquities. Fingerboard is ebony, and the jack & switch are Switchcraft. I got a pretty decent deal as I had interviewed the Eastman sales rep a few years ago for an SD Blog.

The guitar is 335-sized, and no doubt set for a lawsuit from the big G, which makes me like it more.
It is lighter than a 335, and sounds 'airier', and I am very happy with it.

man, that is beautiful. Antiquities are a nice choice. I don't have a set, but I am a great fan of Duncan Seth Lovers, so I bet the ants would be amazing in a semi.

Great score!

Sweet, Dave - Hope you got a good price on it. I have a set of Antiquities in my Ibanez AS-73 and they rule. Don't forget - we need to hear your golden vibes soon!

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

Absolutely!

The Antiquities came stock on this model, which was a bonus.

very nice! ive been impressed with the eastmans that ive played, betcha it sounds great too

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

Lovely axe mate.

I've been wanting to try those for ages and there's none in my area - any thoughts vs a 335?

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

Well, it is lighter and airier than a 335. The pickups are certainly better, and I like the finish vs nitro. It has more touch-sensitivity (probably due to unpotted pickups) and the hardware is great.

Wow...what a beautiful guitar!!! That is very sweet and I think it must be a dream to play. I have a feeling your Godin Montreal Premiere might feel neglected.:( You better comfort your Godin because it might be in for a shock.;)

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

I forgot you had a Godin Montreal. You've got great taste in guitars. There's so much more out there than the usual corporate suspects.

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

Nice. Thanks for giving me G.A.S for a semi-hollow. Though I'd probably put something like EMG's in it. Kidding. Maybe P-Rails(in Triple Shots) , or even a Jazz set.

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

Thanks!
As far as the Montreal, it is still a great playing guitar, and it looks amazing. It does sound closer to an LP than a semi-hollow, though. It has more focus- less 'bloom' to the notes, but in a great way.

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

That is beautiful. Seeing that makes me miss the Hamer EchoTone I had. The thing sounded amazing but as life goes, it had to be sold to take care of priorities. I bet that baby sounds sweet as can be.

Re: NGD! Eastman T59/v RD

Awesome. Totally awesome. Best of luck, but with Ants and that finish, you won't need it, haha!
