NGD... finally got my custom built S type from FedEx today

and it was worth the wait. I took a chance on a fairly new guitar maker, and am happy to say that JW Van Guitarworks makes very fine instruments. Mine is easy and fun to play (just a little stickiness in the maple neck, but that's because it's real nitrocellulose, and it's already getting smoother just playing it for one day). The sound is awesome - more of a range from bright to deep than I'm used to (this is the first guitar I've acquired in a long time that doesn't have SD's - this one has Lollars, and they're impressive). The level of detail and fit and finish is very high quality; little things like small aluminum fret markers are nice touches. Can't say enough good things about this guitar. Here are some pics;

That looks lovely.
You'll never see those fret markers on stage though.

What lollars have you got ?

The fret markers are polished aluminum, and catch whatever light is around pretty effectively. I tried to simulate a darkened stage with an overhead directional light source, and here is the result below. I think I could see those markers (if I needed to). Re the pickups, Travis told me once what he was going to put in, but I've forgotten what he said exactly. I seem to remember that he said they were "Vintage" something. Probably blonde - from the sound of them. I'll have to find out, now I'm curious.

That looks very nice especially against the Fender amp back drop, not surprised it sounds great. Congrats

I like that headstock. And those aluminium fret markers look nice. :)

Now all you need are some guitar lessons .......

I admit it... you can play better than me. Congratulations on your prowess. But how much virtuosity do you expect with ten seconds for each pickup position?

We each started with only a desire to play.
If you want to do that gorgeous guitar some justice, invest in a few lessons.

You'll be pleasantly surprised by not only your development but also your enjoyment.

Just some friendly advice mate, no offence intended.

Very nice! Congrats on the new guitar! I really like those aluminum fret markers–cool attention to detail!

Nice. I love black Strats. Sounds good too.

Very cool! My first guitar was gonna be a Strat with the "silverburst" style finish like this one. I can't get used to Gibsons in that color, but Strat-types just look right (especially with black plastics) that way.
