You know how I share discounts here and whatnot? Well, there was this deal in Monoprice that I shared:

This cheap 335 copy gets good reviews and in red it’s $110 with code A17G3L40 - I ordered one - I had to put a pair of pickups I had somewhere. I’ll use it as backup for my Heritage.

Normal price is $250, the red one is discounted to $184 and with the coupon it takes it to $110.

I got an email saying my ordered was canceled and I got reimbursed. Didn’t think more of it, figured they oversold.

And this morning it showed up!! Triple checked so I guess they just messed up and sent it to me anyway for free.

It’s REALLY well done for a $250 guitar. It came intonated and with low action. Definitely recommend it.

Nice steal, I mean deal. Dig the mid-century modern living room, bro. Fits the guitar. If you didn't have that, you'd have to buy all new furniture to match the guitar.

So...how does it sound?
Better than I expected! I was ready to replace the pickups (I have a spare SD A2Pro set) but I may wait a bit. I’ll do a string change first for sure.

My experience with cheap guitars is that usually they have crazy overwound muddy pickups but that’s not the case here. They sound like they could be ceramic but they don’t have the output I’m used to that goes with that.

When I just plug straight into my amp it’s when I miss more the warmer tone I generally like in a semi. Through the Stomp, I have honestly so much going on that nobody could tell a difference lol

sweet! looks really nice
Thanks!

Lol thanks, I’ll pass the compliment to my wife who deserves all the credit :)

It does. It was well setup and intonated out of the box. I just had to tune it up.

The frets need polishing IMHO but other than that it’s good to go.

This afternoon I swapped the magnets. They were ceramic and I put A3 :)

The rationale is that this is a backup to a semi with Seth Lover and I wanted to get the output and tone in the same universe.

Really happy with the result. Some things like note separation are still missing but it is much sweeter.
