NGD (G&L)

Just got this G&L Asat Classic Bluesboy sounds amazing. The tone between the Seth Lover and the MFD bridge coil through my BadCat sounds so intense. I am really in love with G&L this is my second guitar from them and I am thinking about just getting rid of some of my other guitars and getting a few more.

I LOVE that pickup configuration on a telecaster type guitar !! I've played a G&L a while ago at St Johns Music and liked it ! Happy NGD!

Yeah ive never really played a Seth Lover most of my stuff is fender pick ups or hot rails and a JB jr. I really love the mix between the two its seems like a perfect fit, there is no noticable volume drop as well. The guitar has a three way switch and I find playing in the middle is amazing for a nice grove not to agressive but some attitude as well. I roll back the volume on the guitar to about 7 and I can crank the badcat has a nice smooth agressive tone !!! I love it.

Awesome, I had a G&L ASAT classic with 2 MFD's and loved it... should have kept that one! I'd like one with the same config as yours, congrats.

That really is sweet! Warning--G&Ls can be very addictive; I have 17 in my collection!

Come on over to the G&L Discussion Page at guitarsbyleo.com and post that pic.

Enjoy!

Hey Bill will do, This is my second G&L my friend that is a bass player turned me on them, I love this guitar I had a Asat special which I also loved but ended up traded to get an amp. I will head over to the G&L board I maybe looking to get rid of one of my custom shop strats for a another.

David

Oh and thanks guys I recommend G&L if you have not tried them you maybe surprised. The craftsmanship is amazing for the price.

Wow! Awesome looking! Wood grain through that finish rules.
I have an ASAT Special which kicks ass and Semi Hollow Comanche on its way to my house right now. The G&L addiction is a tough one to deal with. ;)

Congrats and rip that thing up.

Hey Jason, Ive never played a Comanche what do you think of the z's ive been dying to try them.

I'll let you know over the weekend. I still have to string it up and put some time in. It arrived late last night.

Boogie Bill knows his way around a Comanche and Z Coils. He could definitely inform you there.

Re: NGD (G&L)

so i went back and spent some more time with the guitar. I do like this guitar quite a bit but I am just not in love with the seth lover I guess I just prefer the fender widerange bucker. The seth sounds much more thick with a little bit of a honky tone. I wouldn't say I don't like this pickup I just prefer fender vintage to gibson vintage. The seth was modeled after the original 59 hums which i bet most of you already know, but he did also create the wide range buckers for fender in the 70's and if anyone has ever played the wrhb they are worlds apart.

Right now my option is to either mod the guitar with a wrhb or possibly trade it for a legacy and just get a 72 deluxe. I would possibly just keep the guitar but I don't see myself using it live with out modding it. Unfortunately I dont have the money to just keep guitars around for fun all of my current gear serves a purpose.

I'm a big fan of Seth Lover pickups, but I don't care for it in the G&L, Bluesboy. I had a buddy that played old school country 30 years ago with a DiMarzio, Super Distortion in the neck position of his Telecaster. The bridge pickup was an OEM Fender, Telecaster pickup. I know it sounds like an odd combination, but it worked well!
