NGD: I only went in to buy some speed knobs....

Re: NGD: I only went in to buy some speed knobs....

I have this sneaky feeling that you got ripped off and paid WAAAY too much for those knobs.

However, on the upside, it looks like there was a very very nice instrument hanging off the back of the knobs, so at least that offsets the ludicrous price you were charged for the knobs.

The only PRS instruments that have ever held any appeal to me have been the Mira and the Starla, although the only pics I've seen of either always had the cherry red 'SG' kinda finish ... I didn't know they came with solid colours.

Bad luck getting so badly ripped off with the knobs, but awesome luck getting a fabulous, free guitar hanging off the back of them.

That is absolutely beautiful, but I am not buying the " I only went in to buy some speed knobs...." nonsense. It is like when I tell my wife, I only went into the Gentlemen's Club to get change for the parking meter and somehow spent all day in there. You knew what you were doing when you walked through the door.

Well in one sense I am always looking. I was kind of looking for SG's and had one in my sights but this just smoked the SG. I've always liked the Mira so I guess I just finally found the one. I'd get another in a heartbeat but I'd want to recut a guard for 2 vol/1 tone and a toggle, there are just things I need that setup for.

Only downside to the whole guitar is the p/p tone pot for the split. I can't grab the damn thing easily, keeps slipping, could use some sure-grip knobs.

That's sweet. Digging the color on that. It just works. I saw a seafoam green Firebird I this past weekend. Just like this one:

For the life of me I can't get this color to look as it is with my phone cam so here is an innerwebz shot that looks dead on

Dadgum! That does look even sweeter. Seafoam Green and Daphne Blue. Probably my two favorite colors. ;)

Re: NGD: I only went in to buy some speed knobs....

I tried one back, in that colour, in 2013 when I was looking for my RAF retirement guitar. Funnily enough I compared it to a 2013 SG and it wasn't even close! I was so impressed I even forgot about the coil split! Ultimately I ended up with my McCarty, but the S2 Mira's and Starla's are seriously cool guitars. Congrats!

Re: NGD: I only went in to buy some speed knobs....

Well so far the pickups are a little below average. Made by G&B in S Korea, they seem fairly well made but I've pulled them out of LTD's for people in the past. The bridge pup reads 8.93k/4.43k on the split but it's fairly anemic sounding either way. I threw a C5 in the bridge for now but I'm not sure it's the right pickup for the guitar, may swap in an AII mag I think that'll be a better match.

Update - C5 absolutely kills it in the guitar, neck pickup next to go

Re: NGD: I only went in to buy some speed knobs....

What , no UOA5? No RCA4? NoC8? Not even a Hybrid Custom /59? lol.

Re: NGD: I only went in to buy some speed knobs....

Great guitar, and I agree with C5's in a PRS.
Maybe a WLH neck would be a good one.

I love the stop tail bridges. They allow the guitar to resonate and sustain perfectly.
You'll be surprised at how good it stays in tune. You can always count on it live.

Re: NGD: I only went in to buy some speed knobs....

Stays in tune perfectly, light re-tune once at a 2 hr rehearsal on new strings last night, gotta love it. I have a show this weekend and it's going to be front and center for sure.

I almost bought a Mira a few years ago and I chickened out, wasn't really sure about it, regretted it a bunch of times but never really came across another one that caught my eye and my ear til this one. I had tried a few other S2 versions and models when they came out and was unimpressed, none of them rang like this one that's for sure.

Certainly still in the honeymoon phase and God knows how many guitars I go through but I am loving it so far.
