NGD! Jackson

I got myself a new Guitar, i wasnt quite sure if i should get it, but I'm very glad I got it now. Its a JS22 Jackson Dinky, Flat Black. I love the flat black finish, it feels so great and the neck is satin too. i love the sharkfin inlays, even though theyre just plastic and not pearl. and i just love the headstock of jackson's. even better if they're upside down, but this one is regular. it isby far my fav. guitar. I also blocked off the Tremolo, sadly couldnt get it with a hardtail.

the jackson branded pickups actually sound very good so far, not the best clean but distorted (which is what I'm going for 90% of the time) sounds very good and they have decent output, probably going to change them to some nice seymour duncans soon. (suggestions? i was thinking about the nazgul or invader).

I really got hooked with jackson's because of Corey Beaulieu but I really didnt want a flying V because its not my style and i didnt have that much money.
amazing bang for the buck guitar, i love it far more than my 500€ LP Custom by Epiphone and this cost me less than half of it. totally in love with it, plays and feels great, action is where i like it and I'm just so happy :)

cheers!

Re: NGD! Jackson

Very nice! Every JS22 I've played felt very comfortable. Enjoy!

it really does, i think i never played as long as i did today (about 5 hours straight) and its so much better than anything i've owned before, for such a low price. I really enjoy it, thank you :)

when i have some money to spare again, what pickups would be great for this guitar? is a basswood body with a bolt on maple neck, rosewood board. i play a lot of trivium, my favorite band, but generally metal, power metal, melodic death metal and a little bit of metalcore (killswitch engage)

thanks :)

I was very pleasantly surprised by the lower priced Jacksons I've played recently.

My personal favorite pickup in Basswood is the DiMarzio Liquifire (neck position.) I had it paired with a Screamin Demon in two Basswood guitars (an Iceman and a Strat.) The combo sounded absolutely killer in the Iceman but in the Strat the Screamin Demon was a little too bright for my taste. Not trying to steer you away from the Seymour Duncan stuff but I definitely would recommend the DiMarzio Liquifire for the neck position (John Petrucci pickup.)

I will let others here give advice for other pickup recommendations.

Re: NGD! Jackson

Given that the bridge pickup is so far from the saddles, I'd suggest a slightly bright pickup like the Distortion or JB. If it were smack against the bridge or had a 1/16" gap between the ring and the bridge baseplate, I'd say get something a bit darker like a Custom.

Re: NGD! Jackson

Does the JS22 have the compound radius fretboard?

Does anyone know if the neck heel is "fenderish" or not?

I don't know for sure but I thought it had a Fenderish neck heel like most Jacksons...if you are refering to the 4 hole traditional Strat heel.

thats true, its quite far away from the bridge, sounds like good suggestions, I'm going for drop d, drop d flat, drop c/b so I'd want something that can handle that

12" to 16" compound radius

the neck joint on it looks like this, its a little recessed, but not by much. nV5cM6N.jpg

Re: NGD! Jackson

This what i wanted to know
Could one swap necks on it and would they interchange with a strat

Re: NGD! Jackson

Nope. 24 fret heel is wider than a 22 fret heel.

A Warmoth Baritone Conversion neck might work. I put one on a Charvel 375 Deluxe body a few years back, which was built around a 24 fret neck IIRC, and the heel was the right width.

Re: NGD! Jackson

Cool! I have a satin black, neck thru SLSMG that I put an Air Zone and Air Norton in. It's kicks ass.

Congrats!!

Re: NGD! Jackson

Sometimes those js series are great guitars!

I have put a lot of pups in my Jacksons over the years, but my current two have the detonator, and Dimarzio x2n. They are great sounding pups in there. Much love on both those pups.
