Re: NGD. Musicman Sub1.

I once tried the single HB version in a shop. It was heavily discounted and had rather too much dust and fluff gathered in its cutaways. (These two facts MIGHT have been connected!) The thing had no zing. This was not just due to tarnished old strings. That example was a dawg. I sincerely hope that your purchase is better.

I loved the ones I have tried, and I will get one someday. Almost bid on the one you won, but I have enough blue guitars already.

Re: NGD. Musicman Sub1.

That's the only bad thing about buying a guitar on eBay. You never know if your getting a dead piece of wood. I have been lucky so far. Only one guitar out of maybe 10 that I have purchased online was a dawg. It was a Peavey HP Special. Resold it on eBay and lost $50. If the wood ain't dead then I know I can make it sound and play like I want it too. I'm just hoping like crazy that the neck feels like my Axis SS.

I always inwardly kick myself for not picking up a white one when they were still being sold in stores.

I too have faired pretty well with ebay. The reviews of those music man models have been pretty amazing for as little as they cost..

Re: NGD. Musicman Sub1.

IMO, EBMM makes some of the best feeling necks and the highest bang-for-buck guitars of any American manufacturer.

I've been hot and cold with the Sub1 model. It was really the guitar that got me interested in EBMM but I've played some that lacked "it" from a sonic perspective. Probably nothing that a good set of pickups can't help but at that point I'd snagged a couple other EBMMs (different model) and wasn't inclined to buy a guitar that I'd want to mod off the bat.

Re: NGD. Musicman Sub1.

I had one for a while and parted with it just because the size of the guitar felt a little small for me. It has a regular 24.75 scale neck but the small headstock and shortened body made it feel small when playing with a strap.

If you've ever played a Wolfgang, Washburn Maverick, or other Musicman guitars you'll be familiar with what I'm saying.

It has sort of a rough finish and I'm not sure what it's made of. But I like it better than the faded stuff Gibson put out.

Sound wise it was a cool guitar with a lot of its own character. I would put the tone closest to a HB equipped tele but that might not even be fair. I think the body wood is poplar so it shares something with the other Musicman model (Jeff Morse?).

A very solid

I own one:

Great guitar for the money. Used to own the bass as well but traded it with my dad- for a Fender Mustang bass- eternal regret.

that 'SUB' label = Sports Utility Bass, it was retained for the guitars.
