NGD - partscaster

picked up a partscaster on Reverb for 180...Ash body, maple neck and fretboard...guitar is well put together and received with excellent set up...action low and intonation right on...will probably raise the action some as it is a little to low for me...dropped a Duncan Invader in the bridge ($45), SSL-6 in the middle ($42) and a Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell ($40) in the neck...5 way for B. B(OC)M, M, N(OC)M, N...the invader is perfect for getting some nice overdrive with out a pedal, the middle push just a touch of overdrive and the neck has nice clean tones although a bit muddy...may look around for a replacement for the neck pickup...any suggestions for a neck to fit this configuration and be for clean rhythm work would be appreciated...all and all for $307 think I got myself an outstanding HSH Strat....

Re: NGD - partscaster

Yea not bad man, you did really good so far!! Pretty much $500 is a good rule of thumb to slap something together using quality parts as well as a mix of used and new parts. In the end most times you'll end up with a guitar that will rival new guitars retailing for twice as much...
It looks really nice and I think you did a good job! That neck will darken over time really nicely too Id imagine.

You find the HFH muddy? How much have you fiddled with height? Lower one set of screws to give it a more single coilish tones.
