NGD - PRS SE Swamp Ash Special

After playing almost nothing but Telecasters, and currently owning 5 of them (actually one is a Broadcaster), I saw this guitar being advertised and thought I'd take a chance as I have seen several PRS SAS guitars and really liked them. I wanted a guitar that would be very much a "Swiss Army Knife" guitar of sorts.

Since I don't play in a Country band anymore and have been advertising myself on Bandmix as a Steve Morse type of player, I thought this guitar would be a good fit. So far, so good. It's a great guitar, but it has taken getting used to, since I have been so Telecentric for years.

Yes, all stock. I'll keep it like that. Three way switch works like a Les Paul. Push/Pull tone pot engages custom pickup selections.

1. Tone pot up and 3-way toggle toward the bridge, you get the bridge pickup full humbucker with the middle pickup.
2. Tone pot up and 3-way toggle in the middle, you get the full bridge humbucker, middle pickup, and neck humbucker split with the rear coil active.
3. Tone pot up and 3-way toggle toward the neck, you get the middle pickup and the neck humbucker split with the rear coil active.

Beautiful. The SE line for PRS is really a game changer. Great quality for the price, and almost all the models nowadays available so you can choose what you want without paying a fortune. I have a Se custom 24 with roasted maple neck and couldn't be more happy. The 85/15 S pickups sound good too (well, I would prefer more balls from the bridge pick up in truth, but I can cope with that). Interesting switching system..

ahh the tone pot is like a "middle pickup on" switch

ok cool

But it's also tapping the neck pickup at the same time.

Nice guitar. Like the idea of maple neck on a PRS. Bet that makes it a little snappier. By rolling the tone, you probably could get Gibson-y sounds when rolled off, and all the way up, Fender-y sounds.

I have an SE Pauls guitar which is awesome, I haven’t seen that model in SE guise before but always loved the look and would have probably got that model instead. Congrats!
