NGD Reissue Framus Hollywood

This arrived today . It's a reissue Framus Hollywood. My first Electric guitar was one of these.

Framus reissued these about five years ago or so. I couldn't afford one then so I passed on getting one.
I was chatting with Crusty who was telling me about a reissue Hofner Galaxy he'd bought recently. It was a reissue of his first Electric. It resurfaced the idea of getting a Hollywood again. I went off looking for one online. I could only find one Aus and $1000 minus shipping and not the colour I was looking for. I found one on an Italian site. It stated contact the seller for shipping details. I sent them a message and got a reply requesting my address so they could quote me. I sent that and waited . Five days later I sent another message asking what was happening and re-sent my address. I got a reply back a while later saying 'Good , talk to you later " .
After waiting another five days I gave up and went looking for another one. This time I found one in Switzerland. It was AU $100+ cheaper than the Italy based one. I sent them a query as to whether they shipped internationally as they didn't state as much on the net site. I got a reply with an Invoice quote and a request for my address. After supplying that, a revised quote was sent including shipping. They also sent me a link to do a secure transaction on. AU $806 including shipping. I was sold and completed the transaction. They sent me advice it had shipped on the 15th of this month. It arrived today the 28Th. perfectly intact.

Comparing it to the original, it's very true to it with a few minor exceptions. The main one being the Bridge. It used to have floating mounts, it now has solid fixed posts. It had unusual strap connectors which have been replaced by traditional strap buttons. The binding is twice as wide as it originally was but beyond that I can find no differences. I've yet to look at the pickups and under the scratch plate so I don't know if that area is the same. The pickups sound familiar but it was a long time ago that I used them.
The neck feels really good to me. Very close to my Epi Les Paul or the Casino. It was mildly out of tune out of the box but a quick tune up and it was playable. I lowered the action a little and it feels really good.

Nice!

My first electric guitar was a cheap Lotus LP copy... it was a POS, but I wish I still had it.

Happy NGD/pseudo-reunion day! [emoji2]

Re: NGD Reissue Framus Hollywood

It's always nice to go back to one's roots guitar wise if you can. Most of us started on some sort of used guitar ranging in shape from good to POS. That hopefully makes finding one in later years at least somewhat more affordable, if not difficult to find. You fella's down under have a harder time I know, so I'm super excited that you found what you were looking for at a reasonable price.

Looking forward to pics once you get the uploading figured out. Congratulations!!

And with what's left of my first one.

Pics or it never didn't happen. Course, Vulture is probably at church since it's 10 am on Sunday morning there as I type..either that or he probably went for a morning walk and got disemboweled by a rogue Roo, or bitten by a Sydney Funnel Web or a Black Mamba, or maybe he even went to the coast for a swim and was devoured by a Great White. I'm sure it's probably one of those things.
