NGD: SG Content

I've had hardcore Epi SG GAS for a long time now, but I haven't been able to score one because of price increases & the vanishing of the G400 with the Maestro. Last week I got on Daddy's Junky Music's website & stumbled across a silverburst Epi SG for 320 shipped.

She showed up today while I was in class, my girlfriend was here to receive the package, she even took it out for me so I could play it as soon as I got home :)It was in tune out of the box, which is funny because the one at Guitar Center was extremely out of tune, it looks & feels brand new. Its my first SG & so far I'm loving it. Now to add a vibrola to it :cool2:

Nice! I had a cherry one, back in the Nineties. Wish I still had it. As a matter of fact, I got mine from Daddy's, as well! I used to do a LOT of business with them.

Re: NGD: SG Content

Thanks Guys!

Andrew, I'm not sure whats going in it yet, Duncans or Gibby's.. I do know a vibrola is goin on it for sure:D

Whatshisname, they're a great chain... I got 3 guitars from them, an OLP MM1 that I tradded back to them with a KH-202 for an Epi LP Custom.

Re: NGD: SG Content

My suggestions for pickups...

Gibson-wise
500T/BBPro --- More Modern
BB2/BB1 --- More Vintage-y

Duncan Wise
Some time of Custom (CC,C5,C8)/PG or 59

Nice guitar, man. The only thing cooler than silverburst is, of course, all black.

Cool of your girlfriend to take care of that. My girlfriend hasn't "received the package" in weeks.

Re: NGD: SG Content

Devil's Rejects baby!!! Oh, and silverburst sg is pretty sweet too. My next guitar will be silverburst, that much I know.

Re: NGD: SG Content

Whatever you put in there I suggest you reuse the covers if you can. You NEED those on that guitar.

Re: NGD: SG Content

Nice score. I love Epi SG's, got a few myself. Great guitar for the money. In fact I got lucky and just bought one of the red '65's with/Maestro & HSC for a nice price.

BTW, if you add a Vibrola, you'll have empty stop-bar post holes showing. You could plug them with something.

Re: NGD: SG Content

Nice guitar, man. Congratulations. :friday:

These posts from one of Andrew's threads might interest you...

They make a conversion plate for the bigsby so you can mount it to the existing posts and remove it later if you decide you don't like it. Also, you won't be left with extra holes and the possibility of screwing up a guitar. I've installed a bigsby onto a tele and it was a nerve-wracking for me trying to make sure I got that thing right on the first pass. If you do go the bigsby route I recommend installing some locking tuners too. These are a life saver.

yea thats what I had in mind

I wanted a black one but by the time I came up with the cash I couldnt find one.. Its all good though, I've had silverburst GAS since they came out with this SG... Wont the vibrola cover up the post holes?

Here she is with the rest of the herd here at my apartment :beerchug:

Re: NGD: SG Content

Well done to Blueman for acknowledging a nice collection without making a crack about the Strats and Floyds! I'm proud of ya, man.

Re: NGD: SG Content

Thanks Gents!! I was born a Fender man, so they will always have a special place in my heart, as will my superstrats. But the the Gibby love runs in my family too thanks to my uncles :lmao:

so how visible will the post holes be?? I thought they'd be covered by the vibrola
