NGD: SG Content...

New guitar day! Or as I'm second guessing myself, I may have bought myself a divorce. Went GC with the thought of trying a Memory Toy they had in the used section. Ended up trying an SG instead. I've been wanting one for a while. I've been going over the SG or an ES-339. Something lighter than a Les Paul. I really love how it sounds. I can't believe the songs I hear when I strum a single chord. So many great tones recorded with the SG. It was a great price, and if I don't return than I get a nice gift card and will still be able to get a great delay pedal, a new strap, some locking tuners, and a cable with a 90° plug.

Man. I hate Guitar Center. I'm glad I didn't get the credit card.

And I'm totally sleeping on the couch.

I don't mind sleeping on the couch...

...as long as the little woman is sleeping there too.

Or at least pays me a visit now and then.

Congrats! Love the deep cherry on that baby. (A couple of extra pillows should help your neck....LOL)

Re: NGD: SG Content...

What year is that? It's obviously from before 2013, when they started putting the small guards on the Standards. Crazy that it still has the plastic rings around the volume knobs.

Was it new/old stock?

It's a 2012. And there were two almost identical. The first one had been marked down once already but it was in slightly better condition. But didn't play or sound as good. This one is fantastic.

What was the OTD damage, for which you are being confined to the sofa?

Looks good, not a huge fan of the SG's styling myself, but that deep trans red is very sexy. The one thing I just don't like about Gibsons are those plastic tuning keys; they're one of the marks of a true Gibson, and yet they make a true Gibson feel cheap compared to guitars half the price with metal keys. [/opinion]

Re: NGD: SG Content...

Speaking of sleeping on the couch.. I often have to cuz I snore bad sometimes, so me and my VERY bad back get kicked to the couch. So, I usually play guitar for awhile then go to sleep with it in my arms..(even sometimes tucked under the blanket with me ) that really makes her mad.. haha

Re: NGD: SG Content...

It's not playing it on the couch that has her so mad. I think it's the pedal I ordered last week. Came in on Monday. It was clearly opened when I got home. I guess it's one of those add insult to injury things. I feel kind of bad. But all in all I have a great SG.

If you're looking for a good one the 2011 and 2012 versions have that "baked maple" fretboard and I think they'll be cheaper in the long run because they're not rosewood. I can't tell the difference. I can see the difference. It is noticeable. Who cares.

Re: NGD: SG Content...

No worries guys. I'm off the couch.
(Since she's clear on the other side of the country for a week.)
