NGD, shreddy Jackson!

I already posted this in another thread but I wanted to make my own. I just picked up this JDR 94 MIJ concept Jackson for very cheap (120€) locally. It is heavily modified, but I think pretty sick this way.

The middle and neck pickups got removed (who needs those anyways? lol), the tone pot is gone and the volume pot took its place. the holes where filled and the guitar got a new paintjob in this sick military style olive green. New black Jackson logo over the matching headstock. The humbucker is a DiMarzio Dominion, one of my absolute favorite pickups. I hated trem guitars but once this was setup to my prefered tuning, it was a breeze and great fun to play around with it. The action is pretty awesome and it has a very very thin neck, thinner than my ibanez with their wizard neck.

its a very simple but mean machine and the reversed headstock was really what made me buy this in the first place.... jackson headstocks are sick, but reversed even more so :32:

I love how they look but i myself have found i can't really live without a neck pickup. It's like sleeping at night without a blanket it just cold.

How good is the paint job? it would be nice to see some detailed pictures.

Its been modded to a single hum right?

Same here. I think for the past 2 years I've used the neck pickup exclusively for single notes run; the bridge pickup is only good for rhythm.

I remember when this JDR (must be a short for Jackson Dinky Reverse) and the sibling I think it's JSX first came out in 1994, I hated them cause for 500 dollars straight they seemed to be the cheaper version of the Professional series (although they are all made in Japan).

They came with plastic Strat syle knobs - instead the regular dome knobs - which just look weird on guitars without a pickguard; and no-brand tremolo instead of Schaller.

They are rare over here i haven't seen many come up. I like the jdr ''besides those things you mentioned'' its a solid nice playing well made guitar.

yes, the 2 missing pickups are filled with wood and everything got a refinish. It turned out really good, It almost looks like it would come from the factory like that. Its got some cracking which looks cool in my opinion. All naturally aged of course. Having no neck pu is really limiting your options but it's mainly a backup guitar for me as I use my premium Ibanez as my main. this is more for fun ;)

Re: NGD, shreddy Jackson!

Congrats!

Picked one up the other day, myself. They do have great necks. Like you say, it's thinner than the current Ibanez Wizard. But it's a little thicker than the old late '80s/early '90s Wizard, which puts it in a nice sweet spot.

Re: NGD, shreddy Jackson!

That is a sweet looking beast. I agree with you, reverse headstocks are awesome (my dx10d has one). I also sanded the neck on mine to get rid of the stupid gloss finish, my goodness! The neck is now the most comfortable thing ever! I really like the evh frankenstein or a JB in the bridge, I have never experimented with Dimarzios.

Same here. Super high-gain bridge pickup licks seems to be something I outgrew around the same time I realised scooped mids are not something do strive for :)

I don't believe you. If so, how come you don't show us the picture of the front side?

It's nearly impossible to seal a cavity and make it look like it is never there.

I chose to leave the battery compartment of my Ibanez RGA as it is as opposed to filling and refinishing it completely cause the result would never be as smooth as an original finish.
