Picked up a new Telecaster American Standard on trade last week. I'm loving this thing so far. Plays like a dream, looks classy as hell, and it's an American. It's pretty early but I'm guessing this will become my main player.

Ya know, Thats nice. I use to slam all those hard aAh Teles till i started playing mine. IMO, they arent the greatest for classic Tawng tones compared to a older light swamp Ash body, but under Hot Rod marshall level gain, with diferent high output pickups, they slam ass!..OOPs, sorry, thats Alder/Rosewood..that should be VERY Twangy, and nice! Consider some Duncans for more authentic Twang.

I have one Tele for Twang, the other for Monster Metal, with high output pickups. Thats just me, and I'm only the Village Idiot cat. That Tele you got , which is very nice , should totally Smolder, but I'm not a fan of stock pickups for that kind of thing.. I like at least 10K bridge, and the stock neck is useless..YMMV. ( BTW, My Metal is Hot Rod Marshall Classic...beyond that, I would'nt really look to a traditional Tele , but thats just me).

Nice. I've always liked the look of black/black guard/rosewood teles.
If you want a great upgrade for it, get a pickguard routed for a mini hum neck, and install a SD SM-1n. You'll like it a lot more than the stock tele neck.
