NGD X 2...the bankruptcy duo

I was on vacation this past week in Ohio and made arrangements for a trade on this 1989 Explorer 90 double in silver. Needless to say, this is a bucket list guitar if there ever was one. It's in fantastic shape..just some finish checking here and there.

I was browsing Facebook market place and came across this 2001 les paul custom for a very good price. Met up with the guy and was amazed at the condition of the thing. Dead mint not any wear on the back.

It was a great vacation to say the least!

Nice LPC. Great score to say the least. Keeping her stock? I'm looking online and see one potential "Ch. 11 NGD", but I recently picked up a '56 Gibson GA 6. Womp wah.

That Explorer is looking like a hella nice modding platform if I've ever seen one. If that were in my hands, I'd most certainly have some fun with it in the workshop.

Much win!!!!!

Sweet custom! And I remember those funky skinny waist explorers. Way way cool!!!!!

Might I Suggest:

Custom bridge, and a Hot Rails neck, with a tap for the neck on the tone knob as push/pull....

I will most likely keep it stock for now. Its almost too nice to mod.

The Explorer will most likely get a Parallel Axis and Quarter pound (if it fits). I think these pickups are "circuit board" Bill Lawrence, but they dont look the same on the base. They have a coating on the bottom but what looks to be the outline for the circuit board baseplate. Anybody know what they put in these?

Would have been a Bill Lawrence my 1988 Showcase U2 came with OBL's. Suspect yours has a variant of those I worked for a Gibson dealer back in that era BTW. That bridge is one of those thick plate Shaller units with the Gibson name stamped in it is it not?
PS be SUPER careful with that finish as that nitro is pretty porous and your skin acid will attack the metallic flakes in the silver base coat. My Showcase U2 was that same color turned purple first then green everywhere my hands had been on it. Those are worse about that than the old gold tops!!

Thanks for the tip. yea i bet you are right. These pickups look like EMG's or something from the top but underneath, they have a poly coating on them, but it looks like the outline shows the circuit board design inside. I will see how they sound and go from there.

One other thing, the volume pot is a push/pull, but it is shot. it is in the "up" position all the time. Hope the tone pot is ok.
