NGD, Yay!!!!!

Just picked this up yesterday. Fender Classic series 60's Strat. I am really digging this guitar so far. The fretboard is Pau Ferro, but this guitar sounds like the fretboard is rosewood. I played another Strat that had the same fingerboard and it sounded like the descriptions I have heard of Pau Ferro, which sounded very good to me. This strat is more towards the warm side of the spectrum of a good sounding Strat. You can get a very "smokey" sounding blues tone out her, and the highs are present but not shrill (except for the bridge pickup) In my experience the Fender American and Mexican standards that have a rosewood board can sound very dull and not so ear pleasing, whereas the vintage series of both tend to sound much better. This one is no exception it's just warmer than I have the others that I have heard. I am going to have it set up and I am going to have to do something about the typical single coil hum. All in all I am pleased with it though.

Re: NGD, Yay!!!!!

Cool ride! The tone sounds like something I would dig in a Strat.

Re: NGD, Yay!!!!!

Love it!
Sweet color. Also would have guessed rosewood by looking!
I got a classic 50's strat a month ago, I believe ours both come with the same stock pickups. They are pretty good! I might find a set of 57/62s, they have the same vibe, output, and very "Fender" sound, but they are a little more clear and sweet and chimey.

Anways congrats!!

Thank you. It's supposed to be Pau Ferro but I guess the streaking could show up on either. Sure sounds like rosewood though.

Re: NGD, Yay!!!!!

That is because Pau Ferro is Rosewood. Bolivian Rosewood in fact

What we mostly associate with Rosewood is of the Indian variety. However, there are several. Amazon, Cocobolo, Madagascar, Brazilian, and Bolivian are all Rosewoods.

Pau Ferro is denser than Indian, and feels closer to Brazilian or Ebony. Generally lighter in color, but can be dyed. The tap tone is brighter, but once on the guitar matters little.

Beautiful strat, congrats!

Re: NGD, Yay!!!!!

Very nice score. I like the color and everything. Finding a guitar that sounds that good to you is a special thing. Play it in good health.

Re: NGD, Yay!!!!!

That's is a real nice looking guitar. Welcome to the Strat club.;) I like the colour...Candy Apple Red or CAR.
