This is the first guitar I've purchased in quite some time. I first played one of these over ten years ago and I've been searching for one ever since! It's a 1981 Guild, X-79 Skyhawk. I bought it as a present to myself for my 50th birthday. The first few X-79's made have the traditional Guild headstock. Most have a headstock that is shaped like the body.

Happy Birthday! Nice score. I played one of those YEARS ago and this is the first I've seen since. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was to play. Not really my thing, but I love it all the same!

Krazy funky kool guitar! Ron Asheton and Jay Jay French used to use them

Beautiful axe; I love those. Most of the ones with the radical headstock have had the tip broken over the years- they were seriously pointy!

Long time since Ive seen one of those. Almost forgotten bout them.. Very cool! Thats one of the guitars that is radically shaped, but not goofy looking, and still has classic playability. Congrats and Happy Golden Bday!! 50 is right around the corner for me. Need to plan a gift for myself!

Sweet, but I gotta ask, how does she feel ergonomically? I always wonder about those "odd" body shapes.

It feels great ergonomically. I play mostly in the seated position and it's well balanced. I've found that some of the "odd" shaped guitars fit better in the seated position than traditional shaped guitars. The Dean ML, is a great example.

Far out!! I was just watching yesterday Twisted Sister's "The Price" video, and I was trying to figure out what type of guitar Jay Jay French was playing in it. It was one of those. I dig it.
