wow! thats gorgeous, gratz! I'd most likely change the knobs because I don't personally like these and the brass nut is infamous for getting groves in the "zero fret" part of it. But that's a beauty, have fun with it!
cheers!

Re: NGD

How are the necks on those? I've seen some of these on eBay (stripped of parts). Not going to lie, it's mighty temping.

Re: NGD

Yeah the neck and nut were my main concern
The 15 had the robot tuners right

They swapped the nut material to titanium for the 16s right

yes, they swapped for titanium because the brass is too soft. But I believe if you bought a 15 you can get a titanium one from gibson for free. robot tuners are on those, I strongly believe so.

Re: NGD

The SR is the Sprint Run, it's a limited release- no robot tuners, it's got locking Grovers. The neck is amazing, thin asymmetrical, great if you're used to shred sticks like Jacksons, plus it's got a compound radius board.

The brass zero nut I love, I wanted ultra low action like I have on my PRS and EVH, and with a quarter turn of the Allen screws on the nut, and 5 minutes, I was able set the nut and bridge to the exact heights I wanted to get it to play like melted butter. Since the brass wears out quickly, if you call Gibson they immediately send you for free the titanium replacement nut.

Re: NGD

My only complaint is the coil taps aren't nearly as effective at getting a single coil as the coil taps on my PRS, but it excels at the fat, girthy Les Paul tone

I wouldn't worry about that. It's a bonus, but I actually think it's not meant to be on a LP. 😉

I tend to agree- it has a phase switch too which works quite nicely to get a brighter Peter Green tone. It's also got a blower push pull, which bypasses all the volume and tone controls, sending the pickup directly to the output jack, which works quite nicely too, giving it a slight boost to push the guitar over the edge into controlled feedback.

Oh- it sounds killer through my EVH 5150 III

Re: NGD

Nice color and flame. There aren't too many 'bad' sounding/playing Les Pauls in my playing experience. Always a pretty good purchase.

Unfortunately I've seen many bad playing Les Pauls, which is why I never thought about buying another after my 86 Custom. Every one at Guitar Center had a horrible factory setup with high action- this was the first I played that came with low action comparable to my PRS or EVH, so I had to have it, and traded in my Clapton Strat and Jackson SL1 towards it that were collecting dust, so I made out great. The guitar came already Plek'd, and within seconds I got the action where I wanted and buzz free.

This special run also has a special finish- there's a clear candy coat in between the coats, so the entire guitar has a candy sparkle to it, and you can still see the wood
