NIAGD (New INTERESTING Acoustic Guitar Day)...

This followed me home from the music store last night. It's a Yamaha SLG110N nylon "silent acoustic". It doesn't quite have the snap and response of my Cordoba FCWE Reissue flamenco, but it sounds awesome. More like a standard classical. Very impressed. Sounds great through head phones. And on-board FX are great, though I run the guitar dry and use just a hint of reverb on my Fishman Loudbox Mini.

My wife was giving me the look (of a wife who's seen 5 Les Pauls, 2 Strats, a couple of tube amps, and a bunch of FX pedals come through the door over the summer) when I walked in the door with the case. But as soon as I pulled it out, she was like "ahhhh... that's SO cool". I'm diggin it and already the wheels are turning, thinking about returning to my solo acoustic gigging schtick... though I'll probably go a little less latin-flavored and a little more smooth-jazz this time.

Yamaha right. I played one at the guitar shop a few months back. Very nice buy.

Yup, great axe! Very comfortable. Sounds great. Plays great. Light weight. No feedback issues. And a people do a double-take when they see it (from what I've heard).

Those are cool, but you should check out Wright Guitar Technology's SoloEtte. It is available as a classical or a steel string. Is endorsed by Sharon Isbin and was the first guitar in space. It was on the MIR Space Station for 942 days and traveled around the Earth more than 15,000 times and more than 376 million miles. It is hand made in Eugene Oregon. That Yamaha was inspired by it.

Yeah, I remember those back in the day. I was a classical guitar major in college in the 80s and I remember those coming-out not long after and Sharon endorsing them. I'll have to get my hands on one of them to compare after I've had some time with the Yamaha.

They have a number of different models and options out now. I have to admit I'm a bit biased in this matter. Rosco is a very good friend of mine and was my best man at my wedding. Plus I made some of the tools and machines he uses to make his instruments. Hope you enjoy the new guitar.
