i 'think' emppu (or whatever his name is) used a JB/jazz in his washburns. i got no idea which pups he's got in the new ESP's though, probably the same.
my only proof is comming from, the pups look normal (no hex poles) and that i can get my guitar to sound exactly the same

I think that their sound comes more from the amplification and mic'ing than the pups. Nightwish's guitar tone is very generic power metal, imo.
